It's all about the fans. In my perspective, if there is no fans, there is no band. With that said, if you are lucky enough to even play at a show, you have to make it all about the fans. It is their show, and they are paying their hard earned MONEY to see you play. So make it about them! Here is a list that will ensure a kick ass show!
1.) Be sure to smile, and talk to them. They are your family!
2.) Move around! No one likes a stiff tree to look at...
3.) Be interactive. Start mosh-pits! Wall of death maybe? Who knows what'll happen. It's your show!
4.) Put your heart and soul into it! Be proud of what you do. They're here to see you, so rock the f*cking show!
5.) Be prepared. Be sure to memorize your songs, and be in sync with your band. It's important. Be sure, if you don't do any of these other steps, memorize your songs! It'd be pretty embarrassing to forget the lines they came to hear. Also, be sure that EVERYTHING is working. Test, test, test.
